It is just to kill

If you, like me have sometimes wondered about the four letters written on the Christian cross, viz.
I.N.R.I.

then the mystery has been solved. It stands for
Iustum Necar Reges Impios
It is Latin language. What it means is
It is just to exterminate Impious or heretical kings, rulers or governments.
Hardly the kind of statement from a religion which claims to be religion of mercy. No mercy or forgiving here.

It is Just to exterminate! Kill! Annihilate!

Still, one might think that it is fine to kill bad guys. That is where the catch is. Pay attention to the word heretical or heretic. According to the free dictionary:

A person who holds controversial opinions, especially one who publicly dissents from the officially accepted dogma of the Roman Catholic Church.
According to the Merriam Webster's dictionary:
a dissenter from established religious dogma; especially : a baptized member of the Roman Catholic Church who disavows a revealed truth

So, according to this holy(?) inscription, if a catholic Christian kills someone having an opinion different from that of the church, it will not be a heinous crime against humanity. On the contrary, he/she will be dispensing justice because it is Just to kill heretics.

Bear two things in mind. One, these are not the rantings of some marginalized or fringe organization. It can be seen in every cemetery. Two, these words are not just a show off. They have been and perhaps are being practised albeit, in a conceited manner. One example should suffice. Giardiano Bruno, who was an eminent thinker, mathematician, philosopher  and astronomer was burnt alive on 17 february, 1600.

Why?
because he dared to have an opinion different from that of the church. His crimes for which he was publicly burnt alive were:

  1. Holding opinions contrary to catholic faith and speaking about them. Can one get any more rabid than this? Killing for holding an opinion.
  2. Holding erroneous views regarding the holy trinity and reincarnation of Jesus. Now, those of you who are wondering about this holy trinity, let me clarify. Christianity is a monotheistic religion i.e. it says that there is only one God. Then according to this view, Jesus was the son of holy father because Mary was impregnated by the holy ghost. To add to the confusion, The holy father, the holy ghost and Jesus are one. They are called the holy trinity. Bruno did not believe in this illogical mathematics, which was his undoing. Moreover, he held the view that nothing like reincarnation of Jesus took place.
  3. Holding erroneous opinions about Jesus Christ.
  4. Claiming existence of plural worlds.
  5. Denying virginity of Mary.
  6. Dealing in magic.
  7. Believing in transmigration of soul from humans.
For these 'crimes against church' and 'heresy', he was burnt at the stake. That used to be JUSTICE, Christianity style.

Today, evangelization is probably the biggest business and church is the biggest employer. It is run like a corporate. The time has changed and one can not go about burning men publicly. In fact, if the truth of the church comes out, it will be embarassing for the church. Not that they are sensitive enough to feel embarrassed. Just that the business will suffer.

So, the public relations branch of the church came up with new face, now the holy fathers talk about mercy. Gone is the terminology like 'just to exterminate'. New one is 'love of Jesus'. Along with that the old rubble, which could cause hindrance had to be brushed under the carpet, therefore a new expansion had to be found out for I.N.R.I. The operation cover up came up with another expansion. It is
 Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum
which means Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.

No more talk of annihilating heretics or their governments. That is nowadays the job of CIA or MI5.

The more steadfast ones might question that what I am writing is just a conspiracy theory because I have not produced any proof for the former expansion of I.N.R.I. being the original one.

For that wait for my next post. Till then, try to find the facts for yourself.
