KILL THE HUSBAND, GET HIS WIFE

अग्निदाह गर्दश्चैव शास्त्रपानिर्धनापहः
क्षेत्र दार हरश्चैव  स देते आतातायीनः
which means
' आग लगाने वाला , विष खिलाने वाला , मारने के उद्देश्य से शस्त्र हाथ में लेकर आने वाला , दूसरे के धन का अपहरण करने वाला , दूसरे की जमीन पर कब्जा करने वाला तथा परायी स्त्री का अपहरण करने वाला आततायी होता है;
i.e. a terrorist or a gangster is one who
either 'sets fire' (to other's properties),
or poisons others,
or weilds a weapon with an intent to kill,
or takes others money,
or forcibly possesses others land
or who forcibly takes others woman.

This is the Hindu view of terrorism or gangsterism.

Those, who committed such detestable acts of terrorism were termed as 'mlechh' or म्लेच्छ.
Since diversity is the law of nature, such people have always existed, they exist today and will exist in future also.
On the other end of this spectrum of diversity are creeds which not only endorse such acts but have survived and thrived on such acts. We are talking of men, for whom, raping others wives, keeping women as sex slaves, killing innocent men just because they did not approve their ideas, was a routine task. Somehow, by the perversion of political and educational system, they have been portrayed as prophets, saints or other pious men.
The presented incident took place in the year 628 A.D.
Mohammad, the prophet and founder of Islam was living in Yathreeb (present day Medina) and had tasted a lot of success in his raids that he was carrying out on the Caravans which used to travel through the nearby routes. He had become considerable famous and rich but so far, he had not captured Mecca. Mecca temple contained about 360 idols which were worshiped by the residents of Mecca and a large population of surrounding region.
He had six wives and two concubines in his Harem by now. In this story, we will talk about the next one to be inducted into his harem.
This beautiful seventeen years young girl was married to the chief of her Jewish tribe, living in Khaibar. This place was located at about 100 miles from Yathreeb. A few years earlier, she had been living with her father and other tribesmen, close to Yathreeb, from where Mohammad had ordered the whole tribe to exile. So, Khaibar was a new place, where they had settled. A couple of years ago, her father, Huway had been killed by Mohammad's Muslims on command of Mohammad. Her husband, a young man called Kinana was the chief of their tribe now. His grandfather had also been killed by Mohammad. Thus, the young couple had suffered exile and death of their near and dear ones at the hands of their common oppressor, Mohammad. It was to happen again, with much more cruelty and this time it was to be even more deadly.
Normally, history can be tricky but in case of Mohammad, most of his actions and words have been collected into books called 'Hadis'. Hadis means tradition. The importance of these books can be assessed from the fact that they are considered almost as sacred as Quran by Muslims. The six most authentic are known as 'sihaah sittah' or 'six books'. One of these is 'Sahih Bukhari'. Here is what it says:

Anas said, 'When Allah's Apostle invaded Khaibar, we offered the Fajr prayer there yearly in the morning) when it was still dark. The Prophet rode and Abu Talha rode too and I was riding behind Abu Talha. The Prophet passed through the lane of Khaibar quickly and my knee was touching the thigh of the Prophet . He uncovered his thigh and I saw the whiteness of the thigh of the Prophet. When he entered the town, he said, 'Allahu Akbar! Khaibar is ruined. Whenever we approach near a (hostile) nation (to fight) then evil will be the morning of those who have been warned.' He repeated this thrice. The people came out for their jobs and some of them said, 'Muhammad (has come).' (Some of our companions added, "With his army.") We conquered Khaibar, took the captives, and the booty was collected. Dihya came and said, 'O Allah's Prophet! Give me a slave girl from the captives.' The Prophet said, 'Go and take any slave girl.' He took Safiya bint Huyai. A man came to the Prophet and said, 'O Allah's Apostles! You gave Safiya bint Huyai to Dihya and she is the chief mistress of the tribes of Quraiza and An-Nadir and she befits none but you.' So the Prophet said, 'Bring him along with her.' So Dihya came with her and when the Prophet saw her, he said to Dihya, 'Take any slave girl other than her from the captives.' Anas added: The Prophet then manumitted her and married her."
Thabit asked Anas, "O Abu Hamza! What did the Prophet pay her (as Mahr)?" He said, "Her self was her Mahr for he manumitted her and then married her." Anas added, "While on the way, Um Sulaim dressed her for marriage (ceremony) and at night she sent her as a bride to the Prophet . So the Prophet was a bridegroom and he said, 'Whoever has anything (food) should bring it.' He spread out a leather sheet (for the food) and some brought dates and others cooking butter. (I think he (Anas) mentioned As-SawTq). So they prepared a dish of Hais (a kind of meal). And that was Walrma (the marriage banquet) of Allah's Apostle ."

Shocking stuff.

What it tells us is that after the battle, the women of the slain men were picked as trophies and the 'prophet' had the prerogative of cherry picking out of the hapless women.  Using women as sex toys. It is precisely what was followed by Islamic invaders, all over the world. This is the 'sunnah' of Islam which is to be followed by all Muslims. Sufis, who are portrayed to be lesser fanatic followers of Islam also followed the prophet in all respect. Here is one example. The proud Hindu women, who were used to living a respectable life had come to know about such practices thus they preferred 'immolation' over molestation, the genesis of 'sati pratha'. Those who were unlucky ended up satisfying the lust of monsters.
Back to the story of Safiya. If you are uninformed, you will be deceived to believe that the prophet was a kind hearted man who married widows out of piety.
The fact is that this seventeen old is 'married' to a man fit to be his grandfather. She is supposed to be beneficiary of the magnanimity of the 'prophet' because he manumitted her from slavery.
Easy, isn't it? Attack unaware tribe, kill the menfolk, chose the most good looking lass, enslave her. Wait for night, drag her to your bed and then show magnanimity that you are a gentle soul, who has released her from slavery. In fact, go a step further. Let your followers write in flowery language that you saved a poor woman from the clutches of slavery. The perfect script.

Oh, By the way, did I tell you about the fate of her husband. Here it is:

After this defeat, the citadel of Camuss surrendered, on condition that the inhabitants were free to leave the country, but that they should give up all their property to the conqueror. With the rest, came forth Kinana, chief of Kheibar, and his cousin. Mahomet accused them of keeping back, in contravention of the compact, some part of the treasure, and notably the marriage portion Kinana had obtained with his bride Safia, whose father perished in the slaughter of the Coreitza. ' Where are the vessels of gold,' he asked further, ' the vessels ye used to lend to the people of Mecca ? ' They protested that they no longer possessed them. ' If ye conceal anything from me,' said Mahomet, ' and I should gain knowledge of it, then your lives and the lives of your families shall be at my disposal.' They answered that it should be so. A recreant Jew, having divulged to Mahomet the place in which some of the valuables lay hid, he sent and fetched them. On their appearance, Kinana was subjected to cruel torture,—' fire being placed upon his breast till his breath had almost departed,'—in the hope that he would confess where the remainder was concealed. Mahomet then gave command, and the heads of both chief and cousin were severed from their bodies.

'Life of Mahomet' by William Muir. pp 362

So, that is how the poor young Safiya became a widow. And the apostle 'married' her because he was merciful. Can you believe it?
Today, the apologists of Islam try to give all sort of stupid reasons to justify such behavior. But it was not always so. For more then thousand years, Islamic invaders felt proud in imitating the behavior of this prophet. Millions of Hindu women (not thousands) were kidnapped and forcibly 'married' to Muslims. Most of the Muslims in our country today are the generations of such victims.
If you think that is enough of blood and cruelty, here is more.

The prophet had a big Negro named Bilal as his servant. After the husband of Safiya had been killed after torture, he sent Bilal to get Safiya, probably after Dihya had picked her out of the other women. William Muir tells us further about the cruelty.

On this, Bilal was sent to fetch Kinana's bride, Safia, a damsel some seventeen years of age, whose beauty was probably well known at Medina. He speedily performed his errand, and finding her with her cousin, brought them both across the battlefield strewed with the dead, and close by the corpses of Kinana and his cousin. At the ghastly sight, Safia's companion screamed wildly, beating her face, and casting dust upon her head. 'Take that she-devil hence,' said Mahomet, angrily : but aside he chided Bilal for his want of consideration in taking them by the bodies of their relatives. ' Truly,' said the heartless negro, ' I did it of purpose, to see their anger and their fright.' But Mahomet was moved by tenderer feelings; turning to Safia, he cast his mantle over her, in token that she was to be his own, and then made her over to the care of Bilal. One of his followers had coveted this Jewish beauty; but Mahomet contented him with her cousin.

The two women were carried over the dead bodies of their men folk, who had been tortured. Try to imagine the mental agony that Safiya would have suffered, looking at the headless body and severed head of her husband. His chest burnt due to the torture.
The crying woman is a 'devil'. Why? Because she is mourning the murder of her relatives. That is coming from the 'prophet'.
Anyway, after a beautiful maid was hand picked by the prophet, her fate was sealed. That very night, she was 'married' to the 'prophet'.
Again, some apologists try to show that there was a prolonged time gap between the murder of her husband and 'marriage' to Mohammad. This becomes clear from the scene of the morning after the 'marriage'.

In the morning he heard the noise of one rustling at the curtain of the tent. It was Abu Ayub, who had kept watch there all night with his drawn sword. 'What has brought thee here?' asked Mahomet, surprised at the inopportune presence of his friend : 'O Prophet !' he replied, ' I bethought me that the damsel is young ; it is but as yesterday that she was married to Kinana, whom thou hast slain. And thus, distrusting her, I said to myself, I will watch thy tent and be close at hand, in case she attempt anything against thee.'

Abu Ayub, feared that the poor girl might try to take revenge of her slain husband.

Whether one should empathize with the poor woman or feel that she has been given 'respect' of being the wife of prophet will depend on the level of hypocrisy or indoctrination received.
Such behavior should deserve respect or scrutiny?
Is this why there is a law about blasphemy of the prophet in Pakistan.
Next time someone tells you that the prophet married widows out of piety, you should ask about the killer of their husbands. That will give a clearer picture.
Well, that is the story of one of the wives of prophet. Some others also shared the same fate. For more on the interaction of the prophet with his wives, you might read this.
